Mysts from an Ancient Time

Across the misty plane
An onion domed church appeared
I entered into a vast frozen space
Gone were the trappings of what had been

In one corner a candle flickered
I had wandered into the mystery of the ancient place
Voices came toward the flame
Deep and mysterious as the old church

They sang of a faith lost in time
I turned to see what had been
The icons, the candles, the incense, the people
But above all the voices

Deep and rolling as the cold and icy plain
They illuminated my very soul
With the conviction of a belief that
Had never died

‘Mysts from An Ancient Time’ is the finest of your most recent writings…this poem is mystic beauty set to words…it is hauntingly spiritual and speaks of an ancient time and faith that has endured through the ages…I can hear the magnificent deep voices of the Russian monks as they sing praise the their God.
