The Derelict

Foundation cracked with age
Eyes now dimmed and dark
Where once joy and happiness lived
Now only sadness and quiet exists

Soon the derelict will be no more
The wrecking ball knocks it down
A new concrete tower will rise in it place
Progress and the past is lost

A derelict building is destroyed and the past is lost like the poem says…it makes one think of how a piece of history is torn away.

love this one………makes me think of my own search of buildings in the 1900 vancouver where at one time love and joy were heard in shops and houses with lots of naturegrounds and open skies above ………just look up at all those monstres now towering above ones head ….. people alien to each other……. narrowing our human perspective of sight and measurement…… bereft of the beauty of open skies and the daily glowings of light……
